Miguel Marrero is a former 1979 "Harvest Moon Ball" Hustle champion and 1981 three time winner on "Dance Fever" with over 30 years experience dancing, competing, teaching and choreographing. Miguel is best known for dancing the Hustle and performing his exciting Theatre Arts, in combination with jazz choreography.

Miguel's history dates back to the inception of the dance where it was created and originally known in the Bronx, in 1970, as the Latin Hustle. That is where the dance took on a life of its own and in 1975 spread out through the country and was transformed into the Hustle.

There were two people that changed the dance by constantly creating new steps, turns, and hand movements in addition to exciting lifts, dips and tricks. Their names were Eddie Vega and Miguel Marrero. They set the standards by which others followed and were both unbeatable in the competitive world for the ten-year period between 1975 and 1985.

Eddie Vega and Miguel were good friends as well as fierce competitors. Tragically, after Eddie's last winning performance on Star Search, he passed away. Coincidentally, around the same time, Miguel broke up with his first dance partner and stopped dancing for ten years.

Miguel re-entered the dance world in 1995 and kept the Hustle alive by performing, teaching, competing and promoting Hustle events. He also won 1st Place at the 2000 Madison Square Garden Dancesport Hustle Competition. Shortly after winning 1st Place at the International Hustle and Salsa Competition in Miami in 2002, Miguel had his leg broken in an accident. He was unsure of his future in dance and had 3 separate operations.

During this period he realized the Hustle was not expanding the way it was presently being taught and the original Hustle dancers were not getting any younger. That prompted Miguel to create a way to teach that would make it easier to expand the Hustle dance. During the recuperation, Miguel created the syllabus for Hustle on One. His syllabus is directed to teachers and performers who can easily learn his technique. They in turn will spread the method to students. A method everyone can do, where the guy can lead the girl and the girl can follow any dancer.

In 2004, after a three-year recuperation period, Miguel entered the World Hustle Championships and won 3rd Place. He is on his way back. Together with Hustle on One, Miguel has plans to once again change the way of dancing and performing by introducing all new updated, never been seen lifts, tricks and dips for 2006.

It is time for a future generation of Hustle dancers and once again time for change and excitement in the world of Hustle. Miguel plans to make it happen with Hustle on One by also traveling to Florida and California to teach all dance studios and performers. He is sure that, together, we can bring the dance back to life.
